Well that was fun...

Ok the reason I didn't post about the job in NC is because I wasn't sure how it was going to work out. As it turned out I'd be making just shy of 1700 a month down there but would only be taking home 275 after living expenses that I had to budget for. Sooo... it would take me 3 maybe 4 months to recover my moving expenses and whatnot so I just had to turn it down. I'm currently on a mad search of SE Michigan schools for a job. As it turns out there are WAY more openings then I thought. Don't I just suck.

I think I put the goal of moving out of state ahead of the goal of getting a job in general. :-P

More to come!

Road Trip!!

Ok so I was at Diannas on Weds. when I got a call from a principal from North Carolina. He pretty much said "come on down!". I thought about it, and decided "why not!?". So I'm going down for an interview at 9am on monday. Anyone* who wants to go on a road trip should decidedly come along because a 16 hour drive blows chunks by one's self.

On a side note lets not get our hopes up. Eh?

Job Specs...

Salery: 26,000 (+2,000 signing bonus)
Teaching: Physics, Chemistry & Honors General Science
Number of Kids: 1,000ish in a 6-12 Building
Dark Sky Rating: 6.1 (click)
Town: Seven Springs NC (Click)
Starting Date: Aug. 25th
Other: Block Schedualing :-D

*Excludeds peoples who would make the trip even less enjoyable then 16 hours by one's self.

Eat me

Image Hosted by imagehosting.usSo Amy was still sick today. I apparently told her she worked at 4 today instead of 10:45 because when she asked I looked at last weeks schedule which was still on the desk. Do to this ooopsie she was unable to call in 4 hours in advance which means she needs a doctors note before she can come back to work (tomorrow evening). Which also means she'll probly be sitting in the ER tomorrow morning miserable as crap. Note that I did manage to find a fake Doctors Note form on the interweb but Amy declined to let me fill it out and have her turn it in.

I'd like to point out that corporate America can eat my ass. I hate bureaucratic bullshit that cannot adapt to specific situations. Instead of allowing managerial staff the ability to think for themselves, they come up with a ridged set of rules that cannot function in the real world and quickly smother an otherwise good working environment. Sick notes for example are not a solution to absenteeism. It took me less then 15 min to track down a reasonably real looking one and print it out. God forbid that people know doctors and get fake ones written. Moral of the story is that corporate America can eat my ass.

As an afterthought, I believe that bureaurcratic nonsense has also given an exponential rise to the number of people who can be considered "tools". Those people who follow corporate dogma instead of forming a solid relationship with employees. People who would gladly turn you in for wearing the wrong socks for a pat on the head from a district manager. I feel we are rewarding the wrong people here.

Amy's Sick :(

Amy's uber-sick. 103 fever last night, still around 100 this morning. crazyness. :( I've been nursing her all day. Made a vat of Chicken Soup and hung about trying to make her feel better. Which pretty much amounted to leaving her alone and letting her rest. :-P It's already 4:30 and I'm kinda getting stir crazy. Am I a horrible person for wanting to go out for a while while Amy is sick and laying in bed? I'm not sure. Well I'll post again later with my exploits, should I have them.

4th of July... Fun?

The day as viewed from what I told Amy...

- Call to Amy: "We're going to Alicia's mom's. Here's directions call me when you're on your way.

- Voice Mail to Amy: "It started raining we're going to Brian's parent's. Call for directions."

- Call to Amy: "Oh my god Brian just called me a N****!!! We're going to Diannas. Call when you're on your way."

- Call to Amy 15 min later: "Everything's ok now I think... Come on out and we'll do fireworks and explain what happened."

Moral of the story: Brian isn't allowed to drink again... Ever.
