Star Party?

So in the city of Newport News Virginia, (by no means a low light pollution area) I have located seven of the constellations immediately surrounding the Big Dipper (the tail of Ursa Major), although their names are difficult to pronounce and therefore I'm not adept at naming them. Additionally I can point to 4 stars and identify them :)

Being that I managed this in the middle of a major city, I am hugely excited to do more amateur astronomy when I return to the greater Hartland area. Therefore I will be attempting to throw star gazing parties on clear nights throughout the summer. :)

All are welcome. Here are some things to consider bringing should you want to come:

Binoculars, Telescopes, Lawn chairs (preferably the ones you can lie down on), Insect repellent, a blanket to lie down on, a healthy dose of patience, curiosity.

Things NOT to bring:
Flashlights or other sources of light (our eyes will adjust I promise)
Radios, Stereos, etc.
Exceptionally high expectations (This isn't the Hubble people)
