Ok... what "I like"

Ok... here's some things I've "put on my pod", some things I've "taken off my pod" and some things that would be "out of the question", such that suggestions can be made :)

Keeping On The Pod

The Format - Various songs, favorates being "On Your Porch" & "Carreer Day"
The Life Aquatic OST - Tracks by David Bowie, Mark M., The Zombies
Straylight Run - Various songs, Favorate being "Tool Sheds and Hot Tubs"
Jimmy Eat World - Various songs
Ben Folds - Various Songs, Favorate being "The Luckiest"
Bedouin Soundclash - "When the Night Feels My Song"

Listened to and Removed

Athelete - Tourist Album, it wasn't bad, just didn't connect to it at all.
The Life Aquatic OST - Portuguese remakes of David Bowie by Seu Jorge *shudder*

Don't even bother suggesting...

Nickelback, Staind- Anytyhing sounding like this pair of bands (that sound the same).
Creed - Anything *argh!*
Blink 182 - Any of their early albums (OMG Middle School Sucks!)
Pop Crap - Fuck off Corporate-America!
Generaly anything on the radio but I can't be 100% on that one... only 83% :)

There's a rant here just waiting to happen. But this probably isn't the place for it.

Instead, I will recommend EELS and Bruce Hornsby.

you want a list of recommendations?

well, here goes...
-- ben folds... especially the songs "bitches ain't shit" and "the luckiest". i will be playing the second of those two songs at drew and amy's wedding, so get familiar with it.
-- the afghan whigs... i recommend their record "gentlemen"
-- thrice... the "vhiesu" record. that was the BEST record that came out in 2005.
-- lucero... their entire collection... drink yourself to death whiskey country rock.
-- the gloria record... another favorite band of mine, but i'll start you off easily and merely suggest their self-titled ep.
-- sigur ros... if you've never listened to this band, i don't know why we are friends. triumphant, orchestral sweeping rock from iceland. i'm serious.
-- explosions in the sky... instrumental rock from texas. often somber and epic and often within the same song. i recommend their record "the earth is not a cold, dead place" for starters.
-- mew... either their "frengers" or their "and the glass handed kites" records. impeccably produced, clever rock from denmark.
-- jonezetta... poppy, dance rock from jackson, mississippi. you might have a hard time finding this online. if you want it, let me know and i'll IM to you.
-- death cab for cutie... either their "transatlanticism" or "plans" records. if emo bands could write folk pop, this is what it would sound like.
-- david mead... he's a nashville singer/songwriter. his stuff reminds me of john mayer (kinda), sting, and james taylor.
-- elliott... their early stuff is hit and miss, their later stuff pretty much sucks (except for the tracks "drag like pull", "bleed in breathe out", and "song in the air"). but their record "false cathedrals" is rad from start to finish.
-- bloc party... their "silent alarm" record is catchy as hell. more poppy/dance rock stuff. i'll be playing some of their stuff at the wedding in july, too.
-- lovedrug... reminds me of billy joel, but with more rock than pop.
-- rocky votolato... folky singer songwriter stuff from seattle, wa. the songs just sort of have a timeless quality to them... they sound modern but at the same time sound like they could have been written in 1975.

there, that oughtta get you started.
